It's about time they held a burial service. It's been a cadaver for years now.

Finally, they have put the outdated Skins Game out of its misery. May it rest in peace.

The Skins Game was fun about two decades ago. It was fun when you had guys such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson battling it out. It was even fun when you had Raymond Floyd and Lee Trevino and Greg Norman juiciig things up.

But the Skins became a liability several years. When golfers began making so much money that a few hundred thousand bucks didn't mean squat, the big names quit showing up.

Do you know who won the Skins Game last year? How about K.J. Choi? The two years before that, Stephen Ames. Before that Fred Funk.

That's enough to put all golf fans into a funk.

OK, they're good golfers. Nice guys. But they won't draw flies on a weekend in November or whenever it was they were holding the Skins.

The Skins Game didn't pass away because it was no longer a fun event. It became deceased because the big-name players could care less about showing up for fun and camaraderie. I guarantee you that Tiger and Phil wouldn't trade those days with their kids for the chance to win a pot of money. Plsu they don't even like eanh other very mcuh.

It's a shame, but the demise of the Skins Game is just another sign of the times. Do you remember when winning $100,000 was a huge accomplishment on the PGA Tour? Me. too. But the guys out there now don't. Not the ones whose names are big enough to make a difference to an event.

When the name guys quit caring about the Skins Game, so did the fans. When was the last time you watched the Skins?

I really use to enjoy it. It was good off season fun. Fred Couples was awesome at it. I just like everything about Fred Couples. From swing to attitude towards the well being of the game. To me it died when he quit coming. Who knows with the economic squeeze on Golf and tournament sponsorships and the cost of travel maybe the big boys will see it as NECESSARY money again and be forced to play. We are doing things to survive right now..maybe it will also get to them

You're right about Fred Couples. Here's a guy who's been good for the game. Maybe even better for the game than it's been for him. Golf could use a few more Freddies and a few more Fuzzys.

Pondering Tiger's Attitude, Biceps

OK, I'm a believer that Tiger Woods is the best golfer who ever lived. I know he's struggling with his game right now, but I'm also sure that he'll get it straightened out.But as much as I admire and respect Tiger's game, his arrogance at times offends me. When was the ...
